WHO is Abu Afif
Abu Afif Sweets began its journey in 1974 with its founder, Mounir Jamal (1929–1980), a master of oriental sweets. With decades of experience and an unmatched passion for authentic desserts, he opened a small shop in Al-Adhamiyah, a historic neighborhood in Baghdad, Iraq.
The late Mounir Jamal was among the first to introduce iconic treats such as “Znoud el Sit” to Iraq. As demand grew, he expanded his offerings, creating the variety of oriental sweets that Abu Afif is famous for today. His mission was simple yet enduring: to produce delicious, authentic oriental sweets, a vision that continues five decades later.
Our Commitment
After the passing of the founder, Mounir Jamal’s sons, Afif and Nabil, carried forward his legacy. In 1983, they expanded to a larger shop in Karrada, Baghdad, continuing to serve top-tier quality sweets with dedication and excellence.
Their passion and persistence transformed Abu Afif Sweets into one of the most distinguished and prestigious pastry establishments in Iraq, renowned for quality, craftsmanship, and tradition.

How It All Expanded

2005: Abu Afif Sweets expanded to Kurdistan Region, operating two branches in Erbil and one branch in Sulaymaniyah.

2010: A branch opened in Al-Mansour District, Baghdad.

2013: Selling points launched at Baghdad International Airport and Basra International Airport.

2016: A production facility in Lebanon was established, implementing the ISO 22000:2005 food safety system.

2021: Abu Afif Sweets launched its E-commerce website, bringing our traditional sweets to customers worldwide with safe payment and fast delivery.
